Children's Defense FundTHE NEED: Children's Defense Fund came to Firefly with the desire of taking their fundraising efforts to a new level. After years of lackluster online fundraising appeals that yielded very little benefit, Firefly began working with the CDF to undertake an aggressive fundraising strategy that would meet their internal goals for online fundraising.
THE SOLUTION: Firefly spent several weeks analyzing two years of CDF data regarding donors, members, website traffic, and online communication. We then brought our findings and recommendations to the CDF staff and spent six hours working with a core group of CDF staff, including members of communication, advocacy, development, CDF upper management and direct mail consultants. This laid the groundwork for a detailed project plan, specific to the needs and concerns of the CDF community. One specific component of this project plan was to send a series of e-appeals to encourage CDF supporters to make a donation and send a Mother's Day eCard in honor of a special women in their lives. To mothers and grandmothers around the world, there is no greater gift than investing in our children's future. This campaign included sending two donation e-appeals, building a new email stationery on the Convio platform, and developing an Interactive flash eCard for individuals to send to their mothers, grandmothers or person of their choosing. The campaign raised thousands of dollars and garnered hundreds of new donors, making it the most successful non-year-end fundraising appeal for CDF.
